Mapping Service

The Mapping Service is a tool designed to extract metadata from different data files and map this metadata to published metadata schemas. The data files need to be produced by the instruments or exported using the software used for data acquisition; otherwise the metadata might not be included in the file headers. Our mappings adhere to community-accepted schemas, tailored for various techniques. The schemas can be found here. Note that there is an upload size limit of 6048 MB, and that while the program works quickly to extract data, the processing speed is limited by the user's network upload speed, especially for files that are nearing the upload limit. The service is also available to be run locally via an open-source Docker image, which allows the user to not have to rely on fast upload speeds and instead run the upload and extraction locally.

Below is a list of available mappings. Each entry provides:

  • Title: A brief heading for the mapping.
  • Description: Detailed insights into the mapping’s functionality.
  • Select option: Choose the mapping that aligns with your needs. After reviewing and selecting the appropriate mapping, you can effortlessly upload your file or zip for metadata extraction.
