Definisjon

  • The dielectric function ɛ(ω) describes the response of a material to an electrical field. This response depends on the angular frequency ω of the field so that its value for high-frequency optical fields is different from the value at low-frequency or static fields. (Joachim Piprek, Semiconductor Optoelectronic Devices, Chapter 4)
