Dielectric

Definitie

  • 1. Insulating material or a very poor conductor of electric current. When dielectrics are placed in an electric field, practically no current flows in them because, unlike metals, they have no loosely bound, or free, electrons that may drift through the material. (Britannica). 2. The dielectrics are electrically insulating materials with the ability to generate dipoles by the relative motion or separation between positive and negative charges, in the absence or presence of an external electric field. (ScienceDirect, Biomaterials Volume 258, November 2020, 120280). 3. A dielectric material is a poor conductor of electricity but an efficient supporter of electrostatic fields. It can store electrical charges, have a high specific resistance and a negative temperature coefficient of resistance. (https://www.techtarget.com/whatis/definition/dielectric-material)
