Annealing homogenization
Definition
- Annealing homogenization is a heat treatment process used to improve the microstructure of materials, particularly alloys. During annealing homogenization, the material is heated to a specific temperature and then slowly cooled to allow for the redistribution of atoms within the material. This process helps to reduce or eliminate chemical segregation and inconsistencies in the material's composition, resulting in a more uniform microstructure.
