Data Repository
Definition
- Information system used to store, manage, and provide access to digital resources, following a set of rules that define storage and access norms. A Data Repository is particularly suitable for (but not limited to) Publication Data, which is not likely to be altered again. Many Data Repositories automatically assign globally unique Persistent Identifiers to deposited resources. A Data Repository may be associated with an Institution or a group of them, or may be run by a third party. A Data Repository may or may not be directly used by Research Users. The access rights granted to the resources may be determined by the User Role.
