  • 1. Almost all metals are used as alloys—that is, mixtures of several elements—because these have properties superior to pure metals. Alloying is done for many reasons, typically to increase strength, increase corrosion resistance, or reduce costs. (Brittanica) 2. To mix a metal with one or more other metals to form a new substance (Cambridge dictionary). 2. Alloying is a conventional and well-organized technique for improving the thermodynamics and hydrogen sorption kinetics of metal hydrides.
