Electroluminescence
Definição
- 1. Production of light by the flow of electrons, as within certain crystals. Electroluminescence is one of the few instances in which a direct conversion of electric energy into visible light takes place without the generation of heat, such as occurs in the incandescent lamp. (Britannica). 2. Luminescence produced by electrode reactions. Also called electroluminescence or electrochemiluminescence. (IUPAC). 3. Electroluminescence (EL) is an optoelectronic phenomenon with the conversion of electrical energy directly into light, including fluorescence or phosphorescence under electric current passing or strong electric field, which is the outcome of the radiative recombination of electrons and holes in a semiconductor [54–56].
