Ferromagnet
Määritelmä
- 1. Ferromagnetism is the basic mechanism by which certain materials (such as iron) form permanent magnets. This means the compound shows permanent magnetic properties rather than exhibiting them only in the presence of an external magnetic field (https://chem.libretexts.org). 2. Having the same kind of magnetism (= power to attract other objects) that iron has (Cambridge dictionary). 3. Of or relating to substances with an abnormally high magnetic permeability, a definite saturation point, and appreciable residual magnetism and hysteresis (Merriam-Webster dictionary). 4. A ferromagnetic material is defined as one, which undergoes a phase transition from a high-temperature phase, which does not have a macroscopic magnetic moment, to a low temperature phase, which has a spontaneous magnetization even in the absence of an applied magnetic field. (Journal of Alloys and Compounds Volume 538, 15 October 2012, Pages 153-159 Journal of Alloys and Compounds). 5. Ferromagnetism is a property of certain materials (such as iron) that results in a significant, observable magnetic permeability, and in many cases, a significant magnetic coercivity, allowing the material to form a permanent magnet.
