Ductility
تعریف
- 1. Ductility, Capacity of a material to deform permanently (e.g., stretch, bend, or spread) in response to stress. Most common steels, for example, are quite ductile and hence can accommodate local stress concentrations. Brittle materials, such as glass, cannot accommodate concentrations of stress. (Britannica). 2. The ability of a metal to be easily bent or stretched (Cambridge Dictionary). 3. Ductility refers to the ability of a material to sustain significant plastic deformation before fracture. Plastic deformation is the permanent distortion of a material under applied stress, as opposed to elastic deformation, which is reversible upon removing the stress. (Wikipedia). 4. The ability of a material to have its shape changed (as by being drawn out into wire or thread) without losing strength or breaking. (Merriam-Webster dictionary). 5. Ductility is the ability of a material to undergo a visible enduring deformation through elongation (decreasing of cross section area). It expresses the extent to which the material can be plastically deformed without fracture. (https://wiki.anton-paar.com/en/what-is-ductility/)
