Definición

  • 1. One of the parts into which something naturally divides. (TIB, NCI Thesaurus OBO Edition). 2. A segment of something is one part of it, considered separately from the rest. (collins dictionary). 3. One of the smaller groups or amounts that a larger group or amount can be divided into (Cambridge dictionary). 4. Part of a circle that is divided from the rest by a line, or part of a sphere that is divided from the rest by two planes (Cambridge dictionary). 5. Each of the single, large portions of material pre-existing either in space (e.g. bags, bales, drums) or accumulated during a fixed time (e.g. discharge from a conveyor belt) or formable as increments by a sampling device. Segments may be actual or conceptual. (IUPAC). 6. The set of samples which can be analysed between two successive calibrations. A segment includes samples, control materials and blank samples. This term is of particular importance in clinical chemistry. (IUPAC)
