Material property

Definition

  • 1. The material properties are assigned to a region comprising cells or elements based on the material type associated with that region. Some of the typical material properties include thermal conductivity, enthalpy, emissivity, viscosity. Some of these properties could be functions of temperature or composition. (Scinece Direct). 2. A material property is an intensive property of a material, i.e., a physical property or chemical property that does not depend on the amount of the material. These quantitative properties may be used as a metric by which the benefits of one material versus another can be compared, thereby aiding in materials selection. (Wikipedia).
